Join Our SLPs & AuDs Against Antisemitism Email ListWe condemn recent antisemitic incidents. We affirm our commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful environment for all, recognizing the impact of hate on our diverse community, including Jewish audiologists, speech-language pathologists, related professionals, and students, as well as their clients, patients, students, and families.
In response to a rise in antisemitic hate crimes over the past several years, we are asking ASHA to stand with us against antisemitism within our communities. We request that ASHA actively engage in educational initiatives, collaborate with advocacy groups, & provide resources to ASHA members to promote understanding and empathy.
Our aim is to contribute to a future where every individual, regardless of background, can thrive in an atmosphere of unity and respect.
We have been asking ASHA to take a stand against Antisemitism. Now we need YOUR help.

Anti-Semitism AKA Jew Hatred is at an all time high.
The Antidefamation league (ADL) reported in January 2023 that they found 20 percent of adults or 52 million Americans harbor antisemetic beliefs. They also found through other surveys that a rise in workplace harassment exists against Jewish employees.
According to the FBI director, Jews make up 2.4% of the US population but are targets of 60% of hate crimes. This is far higher than ANY other minority group in the US. Let that sink in...
And this was reported PRIOR to October 7, 2023. Since this date, anti-semitism has risen 400% in the United States alone. This is also occuring globally.

Statistically speaking, there are 68 people with antisemetic beliefs per each Jewish person, globally.
16.1 million people in the world are Jewish AND 1.09 Billion people harbor antisemetic attitudes.
0.2% of the world is Jewish AND 13.6% of the world has antisemetic beliefs.
It is critical that ASHA stand with its Jewish Members against antisemitism.
On November 7, 2023 a survey was sent out in order to prepare for a last-minute call with two ASHA represenatives. Within 24 hours 1,042 SLPs & Audiologists responded. Here are the results:
-
94.4% of respondents are Jewish
-
87.3% are current ASHA members
-
92.6% live in the US
-
5.5% in Canada
-
1.6% in Israel
-
0.3% live elsewhere
-
Work settings and caseloads are diverse.
-
72.6% work for someone else
-
34.9% work for themselves
-
8.7% have employees or contractors
-
6.4% are still in school
For those who work for someone else only 29.7% of employers have made a statement against antisemitism and and 35.1% against terrorism, since October 7, 2023. ASHA making a statement can have a big impact here.
Those who work for themselves/have a team that work for them: 47.3% have made a statement against antisemitism and 51.7% against terrorism, since October 7, 2023.
27.5% do not feel safe going to work since October 7, 2023.
43.3% do not feel safe leaving their house since October 7, 2023.
28.9% have been harassed on social media since October 7, 2023 for being Jewish (note not all members who voted are on social media).
At the same time, we realized ASHA has ZERO support for Jewish members and no DEI coursework on their website pertaining to Jewish culture & Antisemitism. We are changing that! Join us November 29th at 7pm ET for the first ever ASHA-CEU registered course on Judaism & Antisemitism (recording will be available).
While we are building out this Free DEI CEU Course, we have many other efforts underway with our team of volunteers.
