COURSE DESCRIPTION: A webinar on the art and science of Orofacial Myology from a registered dental hygienists perspective. Content taught includes: the history of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy, the most common contributors to Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders, and the therapists role in recognizing, collaborating and treating these common but misunderstood disorders. 

PRESENTER: Angie Lehman, RDH, COM is an IAOM Certified Orofacial Myologist (COM) who has been exclusively practicing Orofacial Myology since 2012 in York, Pennsylvania. She runs one of America's most successful and well known private practices, Oral Myofunctional Therapy of York. Angie is a highly sought-after educator for medical, dental and allied health professionals and she is passionate to encourage all health disciplines to work collaboratively and to better understand oral function and craniofacial development and to incorporate therapy into their specific areas of care.

9:10-9:40 PM EST (30 minutes): The three most common causes of Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders

9:40-10:00PM EST (20 minutes): Before/After case study

10:00-10:15 PM EST (15 minutes): Q&A

Participants will:

  • List 3 components of normal versus abnormal oral rest posture
  • Describe the role of the tongue and facial muscles in orofacial developement 
  • Name the 3 most common contributors to Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders 
  • Screen patients for Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders 
  • List 3 reasons to refer for Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (OMT)

 

ASHA CEU PROCESS & REQUIREMENTS

This course is offered for 0.20 ASHA CEUs (Introductory Level, Professional Area). 

To receive ASHA CEUs this registration page must be submitted prior to the webinar. To watch a recording, log into your Kajabi portal, go to "The Myo Membership" > "September 2020" and the recording will be found under the training tab.

IMPORTANT: For continuing education credit the webinar must be completed in its entirety, either by attending live or watching the recording by September 30, 2020. This live webinar takes place on September 23, 2020 at 8pm EST.

What happens if I cannot attend the live webinar? 

The recording will be uploaded to your Myo Membership portal following the live webinar. All members have until the last day of the month to complete the training for continuing education credit; for Angie Lehman’s webinar, "The OMT Crash Course", the deadline to watch and receive continuing education credit is September 30, 2020.

How do I obtain continuing education credit?

Upon completion of the live or recorded webinar, a survey and quiz are sent electronically via Kajabi and email. You must complete the survey and quiz at the same time and receive 80% accuracy on the quiz items to pass the course and receive a certificate of completion. The certificate of completion will be sent via email following a passing score (80% or higher). This must be completed by September 30, 2020.

This registration page is for SLPs who want to help their orofacial myofunctional therapy patients thrive and achieve real results. 

What happens after I sign up?

You are already signed up for the myo membership and have paid in full for this month (which includes this training). If attending live, register at the provided zoom event link that will be sent out prior to the webinar event. If watching the recording you do not need to register via zoom. If you want ASHA CEUs you MUST COMPLETE this registration page (scroll to bottom and fill out the entire form).

Refund policy: Per the refund policy when you joined the Myo Membership, you can cancel your future monthly membership at any time before the first of the month but you will not be refunded for any trainings or materials already provided. If you are unable to join live, you may watch the recording that will be placed in your Myo Membership portal.

If this webinar needs to be rescheduled you will be notified as soon as possible with the new webinar date (no refunds are provided if a webinar date has to be moved by a presenter; a replacement webinar will be provided in the event that this months presenter is unable to present as scheduled).
