
This course aims to provide participants with comprehensive knowledge and skills to effectively manage tethered oral tissues, optimize feeding outcomes, and promote proper oral rest posture through interdisciplinary collaboration. Participants will gain practical insights and strategies to enhance patient care and support families facing challenges associated with tethered oral tissues.
MEET OUR PRESENTER:
Anna attended Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans and graduated in 2012 with a Master of Occupational Therapy. Anna is a Feed the Peds and TOTs trained therapist. She also holds the Tethered Oral Tissues and Therapeutic Bottle Feeding Badges offered by the Lactation OT. She has her own private practice, Prosper Therapy and Feeding Solutions, located in Monroe, LA, that services northeast and central Louisiana. She has provided successful feeding therapy intervention to hundreds of families in her area.

TIME ORDERED AGENDA & LEARNING OBJECTIVES
0-10 minutes: Introduction
11-190 minutes: Review of tethered oral tissues, anatomy, grading systems, functional impact of swallow, impact on oral development
191-220 minutes: Interdisciplinary care/ roles of team members /road blocks/ethical considerations
221-240 minutes: Surgical interventions
241-300 minutes: Non-surgical interventions and preparation for a release, achieving therapeutic readiness
301-360 minutes: Case studies
LEARNING OUTCOMES
After completion of course participants will be able to:
- Compare surgical interventions/non-surgical interventions to determine the optimal approach for their specific clients.
- Devise ethical treatment plans for clients diagnosed with tethered oral tissues that support parent and medical decisions.
- Defend clinical decision-making regarding pursuance of surgical/non-surgical interventions when faced with various medical cases and caregiver socioemotional factors.
