This course aims to provide the ability to effectively differentiate among oral sensory-motor development, feeding, swallowing, orofacial myofunctional issues, and speech sound production deficits in order to provide the necessary specialized care.

MEET OUR PRESENTER: 

Ashly Perkins, M.S., L-SLP, CCC-SLP, COM
 

Ashly is a small-business owner, Speech-Language Pathologist, IAOM Board Certified Orofacial Myologist®, and Feeding Specialist. Ashley is the owner and manager of Perkins Therapy Group, LLC, which is a private practice providing in-office, in-home, in-daycare, and in-school: feeding therapy, orofacial myofunctional therapy, and speech-language pathology services in Eunice, Louisiana and surrounding areas. She is also the owner and manager of SOHO MYO, PLLC, where she provides virtual, in-home based office, and in-home: feeding therapy, orofacial myofunctional therapy, and speech-language pathology services within the South Houston, Texas community. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and she received a Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She has been a Speech-Language Pathologist for 8 years. She became an IAOM Board Certified Orofacial Myologist through the International Association of Orofacial Myology in 2021. She is originally from Louisiana, but moved to Texas in 2022, so she is now a Louisiana, and Texas state-licensed Speech-Language Pathologist.

31-60 minutes: Patient intake

61-210 minutes: Differentiate between Pediatric Feeding Disorders (PFDs) and other potential diagnoses

211-240 minutes: Case studies

241-270 minutes: Prioritize coordination of care team based upon differential diagnosis

271-285 minutes: Explain differential diagnosis process and decisions

286-300 minutes: Conclusion & Call to Action
