COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Childhood Apraxia of Speech is a rare, speech movement disorder affecting the ability to plan and sequence the movements needed to produce speech. Already requiring a niched, specialized motor treatment approach, when structure and/or function of the orofacial complex are also impaired, evaluation and treatment become complicated and nuanced. This course will highlight pediatric patients as they demonstrate Characteristics of both CAS and an orofacial myofunctional disorder. Treatment planning and sequence of that treatment will be discussed.
