"Now What? A Guide to Pre- and Post- Tongue Tie Release"

COURSE DESCRIPTION: 

This course will focus on the next best steps following diagnosis of a tongue tie. Participants will gain understanding of best practices regarding functional release criteria, post release wound care, and continuing myofunctional therapy.
 
 

 

PRESENTER: Kaitlyn Shrum MA, CCC-SLP, QOM, CMT®, certBBM

Kaitlyn Shrum MA, CCC-SLP, QOM, CMT, certBBM is the owner and founder of Southern Speech & Myo. She graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Master’s degree in communication sciences and disorders. Kaitlyn holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association, is a Certified Myofunctional Therapist (CMT) and is a Qualified Orofacial Myologist (QOM). Kaitlyn is also certified in teaching Buteyko Breathing Method (certBBM). She has completed continuing education focusing on dysphagia, oromyofunctional disorders, Buteyko Breathing, TOTS Training, sensory-motor based feeding, the SOFFI method, Beckman Oral Motor Protocol, and the Kaufman approach to treat childhood apraxia of speech. She has been published in several professional journals, for her research on phonemic awareness in children with disabilities and the benefits of dialogic book reading for vocabulary development. Kaitlyn also works as a mentor and continuing education provider

TIME ORDERED AGENDA & LEARNING OBJECTIVES

7:00-7:30 pm (30 minutes): Speaker introduction, disclosures, review of outcomes, topic introduction

7:30-8:00pm (30 minutes): Pre-release function, criteria for release, collaborative team development

8:00-8:30pm (30 minutes): release and post-release care

8:30-8:45 (15 minutes): post release therapy planning

8:45-9:00 pm (15 minutes): Q&A

  

LEARNING OUTCOMES 

After completion of course participants will be able to: 

  • Identify and recognize readiness for release

  • Develop and implement a team approach to TT release

  • Provide post release support, including wound care/stretches

  • Implement post release therapy

This course is offered for 0.20 ASHA CEUs (Intermediate Level, Professional Area). 

To receive ASHA CEUs this registration page must be submitted prior to the webinar. To watch a recording, log into your Kajabi portal, go to "The Myo Membership" > "November 2023" and the recording will be found under the training tab.

IMPORTANT: For continuing education credit the webinar must be completed in its entirety, either by attending live or watching the recording. 

What happens if I cannot attend the live webinar? 

The recording will be uploaded to The Myo Membership portal following the live webinar for all current members inside The Myo Membership.

How do I obtain continuing education credit?

Upon completion of the live or recorded webinar, a survey is sent electronically via Kajabi and email. You must complete the survey by clicking submit in order to receive your ASHA CEUs and a certificate of completion. The certificate of completion will be available for immediate download following submission of your ASHA CEU survey form. This must be completed within 7 days of completion of webinar.

Who is this for? 

This registration page is for SLPs who want to learn more about airway, myofunctional therapy, tethered oral tissues, dental appliances/orthodontics and related topics.

What happens after I sign up?

You are already signed up for The Myo Membership® and have paid in full for this month (which includes this training). If attending live, register at the provided zoom event link that will be sent out prior to the webinar event. If watching the recording you do not need to register via zoom. If you want ASHA CEUs you MUST COMPLETE this registration page (scroll to bottom and fill out the entire form).

Refund policy: Per the refund policy when you joined The Myo Membership, you can cancel your future monthly membership at any time prior to the 48-hour renewal window. You will not be refunded for any training or materials already provided. If you are unable to join live, you may watch the recording that will be placed in The Myo Membership portal.

If this webinar needs to be rescheduled you will be notified as soon as possible with the new webinar date (no refunds are provided if a webinar date has to be moved by a presenter; a replacement webinar will be provided in the event that this months presenter is unable to present as scheduled).
