CONTINUING EDUCATION REGISTRATION PAGE

WEBINAR DATE: January 14th, 2025 at 7:00- 9:00PM ET

(2 Hours, 0.20 ASHA CEUs)

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This presentation will allow the listener a greater understanding of simple Osteo/Arthrokinematics of the Temporomandibular Joints. This will include normal and abnormal centric occlusion or relation and the craniomandibular functional unit. The listener will be able to recognize patterns of the head and neck that may be root causes for TMD, neck pain and dysfunction including pathomechanics and neurological considerations. Abnormal/compensatory patterns related to oral myofunctional disorders will also be discussed as they relate to multiple disciplines.

PRESENTER: Lenore Morrissey, MPT, DPT, OCS, CFC

Lenore Filler Morrissey educates patients and health care providers in treatment of acute to chronic head and neck pain associated with temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJD or TMD), oral myofunctional disorders, headache sequelae, sleep disordered breathing including sleep apnea, daytime dysfunctional breathing and compromised body postures from head to toe. This holistic approach is derived from extensive education in orthopedic manual physical therapy, craniofacial disorders, oral-myofunctional therapy, postural dysfunction, and diurnal breathing patterns. She collaborates with dentists, orthodontists, primary MDs, ENTs, endocrinologists, speech therapists and others in order to treat the whole patient, reduce stress related dysfunction and prevent, rather that treat disease by finding root causes. She treats patients from 3 years old and up that are suffering with orthopedic injuries, sleep related dysfunction including headache, TMD, neck pain, and oral myofunctional disorders to name a few. She spends a great deal of time performing a comprehensive evaluation in order to assess patient history on current structural and functional related concerns. Evaluation and treatments are sometimes provided on site at the referring provider’s office such as a dentist to maximize a collaborative team approach and patient goals. She believes that this approach with patient education and hands on treatment specific to each individual will yield timely result. Beyond traditional physical therapy, she implements the following techniques: fascial manipulation (Stecco method®), postural respiration (Postural Restoration Institute®and Applied Integration Academy®), craniofacial/cervical and TMD methods as instructed by world renowned Mariano Rocabado through University of St. Augustine, Oxygen Advantage taught by Patrick McKeown (Buteyko Breathing method foundation) and oral myofunctional therapy through the Academy of Oral Myofunctional Therapy (Joy Moeller). She has lectured for Airway Mini-Residency, Whittier College, American Academy of Physiologic Medicine and Dentistry (AAPMD) and multiple small dental practices. She has one publication in this field and is currently writing a textbook chapter specific to craniofacial and airway physical therapy through Elsevier publications.
