COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Explore and discuss a myofunctional case study, different treatment strategies and different signs/symptoms of Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders (OMDs). 

 

PRESENTER: 

KAYLA FONTENOT, M.S. CCC-SLP, COM®

Kayla Fontenot, MS, CCC-SLP, COM® is a speech-language pathologist and IAOM Certified Orofacial Myologist®. She helps children and adults to speak and eat with optimal function. Her approach to therapy is integrative. She examines the way that the muscles work during speaking and eating to identify problems such as muscle imbalance, lack of strength, compensation, tethered oral tissues, or motor planning.

Kayla's worked in hospitals, rehab centers, and school districts across the state of Texas. She's been in private practice, her favorite setting, since 2012. She's licensed in the state of Texas and holds the Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA). 

Kayla founded Flower Mound Speech Therapy in 2015 because she believes in providing in-depth personalized services to families. She works closely with her team of therapists to ensure the needs of each family are met.

LEARNING OUTCOMES 

After completion of course participants will be able to: 

  1. Describe and Improve diagnostic skills for screening and assessing OMDs
  2. Identify symptoms of OMDs 
  3. Describe different treatment strategies for OMDs 
  4. Discuss how management and treatment is best tailored to the individual 
  5. Identify and discuss the importance of collaboration with other professionals and when to collaborate as a team 

This course is offered for 0.10 ASHA CEUs (Intermediate Level, Professional Area). 

How do I obtain continuing education credit?

To receive ASHA CEUs you must:

1. Register prior to watching the webinar.

2. Watch the entire recorded webinar.

3. Complete the survey within 7 days of watching the webinar. Once completed you will get immediate access to the CEU form which must also be completed within the 7 day window.

4. Complete your CEU form. NOTE: This is due within 7 days of watching the recorded webinar. 

5. Once the CEU form is completed you will have access to download your certificate of completion. PLEASE NOTE: It is your responsibility to maintain your certificate of completion. Future requests for certificates will incur an administrative fee of $10 per form.

How do I access the recorded webinar?

After signing up for the webinar you will be given access. To watch the recording, log into your Kajabi portal, go to "The Myo Membership" > "Virtual Case Study Club" > and the recording will be found under "February 2022".

Who is this for? 

This registration page is for SLPs who want to further their orofacial myofunctional, airway and tethered oral tissue knowledge by studying real cases, so that they understand when to refer out or how to adapt & individualize a patients treatment plan.

What is the refund policy? 

Per the refund policy when you joined the Myo Membership, you can cancel your future monthly membership at any time 48 hours before your membership renews. You will not be refunded for any trainings or materials already provided.
