Myofunctional Therapy After Jaw Surgery Speaker Q&A

A live follow-up session with Iryna Schwartz, MS, CCC-SLP

Tuesday, September 29, 2026 | 8:00 PM ET |

You watched the training. Now bring the post-surgical patients who are not following the timeline.

This live session takes the post-surgical framework from Myofunctional Therapy After Jaw Surgery: Optimizing Function, Stability, and Recovery and puts it to work on real clinical problems submitted by the people in the room. Rather than reviewing the training content, we work at the application layer: how to tell expected healing from a pattern that needs intervention, when to start and when to hold, and how to coordinate your plan with the surgical team.

Questions are collected in advance and grouped into topic domains so the session moves with purpose.

Prerequisite: Completion of Myofunctional Therapy After Jaw Surgery: Optimizing Function, Stability, and Recovery is expected before attending. This is an intermediate-level course and assumes working familiarity with orofacial myofunctional therapy principles.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Apply the post-surgical healing framework to clinician-submitted cases involving orthognathic surgery.
  2. Differentiate expected post-surgical change from functional patterns that call for myofunctional intervention.
  3. Prioritize intervention and referral steps based on a patient’s stage in the healing timeline.
  4. Troubleshoot barriers to coordinating myofunctional therapy with the surgical team’s plan and follow-up schedule.
