COURSEÂ DESCRIPTION:Â
Course participants will learn how to use the Pediatric Feeding Screening Packet. Participants will observe pediatric feeding screenings and discover how to summarize screenings results and make next step recommendations. Â
Hallie Bulkin, MA, CCC-SLP, CMT®, CPFT® is a Feeding Specialist, Certified Myofunctional Therapist™ and Speech-Language Pathologist. Hallie is the founder of Feed The Peds®: A comprehensive 12-week course on the foundations of pediatric feeding and swallowing™; The Myo Method®: Intro To Myo Course; The Myo Membership®; and the Untethered Podcast. Hallie also is the founder and director of Little Sprout Therapy & Metro Myo a pediatric clinic providing feeding therapy, orofacial myofunctional therapy (adults, too!), speech-language therapy and occupational therapy in DC, MD, & VA. Hallie specializes in assessment and treatment of tethered oral tissues (TOTs), feeding delays and disorders and orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMDs). When Hallie is not running her private practice or teaching and mentoring colleagues in the feeding, myo and business world, you will find Hallie hanging with her family and furbaby. Fun fact: Hallie and both her daughters were tongue and lip-tied; received myofunctional therapy, frenectomies, and underwent expansion with growth appliances.

AGENDA, LEARNINGÂ OBJECTIVES AND LEARNING OUTCOMES
Part 1 (1 hour):
Description: Take a look at typical and atypical feeding patterns to determine when a feeding screening is recommended.
Learning Outcomes:
Participants will:
- Observe a typical developing pediatric feeding screening
- Observe a child with delayed feeding skills
- Complete pediatric feeding screening packet on sample patient
Day 1 (1 hour):
Description:
Learning Outcomes: Determine if a patients oral motor, fine motor and utensil usage is age appropriate or if it is an area that requires further assessment.
Participants will:
- Identify 3 oral motor milestones for children birth-36 months of age
- Identify 3 fine motor milestones for children birth-36 months of age
- Identify at least 3 utensils or feeding vessels appropriate for transition to cup drinking and solid introduction
Day 2 (1 hour):
Learning Outcomes: Understand relevant terminology and it's relationship to feeding skills in order to complete a quick feeding screening check-list.
Participants will:
- Review relevant terminology for pediatric feeding screenings
- Identify at least 3 areas of oral motor needs
- Discuss the impact on oral motor skills
Day 3 (1 hour):
Learning Outcomes: Summarize feeding screening results, determine if further feeding assessment or referrals are needed and share results with the parent/guardian.
Participants will:
- Summarize screening results
- Determine if further assessment is warranted
- Determine if further referral is needed
- Discuss delivery of results to patient or patient parent/guardian
